Famous Indian player Shikhar Dhawan has arrived in Nepal to play for the Karnali Yaks in the 1st season of Nepal Premier League (NPL).
He arrived in Kathmandu on Friday evening. Karnali Yaks representatives receive him at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Dhawan is the biggest name coming to play in the NPL. He plays as a left-handed batsman and won the Champions Trophy in 2013 and the Asia Cup in 2016, and 2018 for the Indian Cricket Team. Similarly, He won the IPL title with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2016
He has scored 1759 runs from 66 matches in T20 matches for India, 9797 runs with 2 centuries and 70 fifties in 334 matches in T20, and 6769 runs in IPL alone.
Other foreign players in Karnali include Babar Hayat from Hong Kong, Chadwick Walton from the West Indies, and Zeeshan Maqsood from Oman. All three have come to Nepal.
So far, 40 foreign players from 15 countries are contracted for the NPL. Among them, 28 foreign players from 12 countries have come to Nepal till the time of preparing this news.
There’s a provision that a team must have four foreign players, but depending on the vacuity, they can keep up to six foreign players.
For NPL, Pokhara Avengers and Janakpur Bolts have brought 6 players each, while Karnali Yaks and Sudurpaschim Royals have brought 4 players each. The other four teams have 5 foreign players each.
