Nepal loses against Bangladesh and is eliminated from the women’s ACC U-19 Cup

Nepal had earlier made headlines in the group stage with a historic win against Pakistan, securing their place in the Super-4

Nepal has been knocked out of the Women’s ACC U-19 Cup after enduring a nine-wicket loss to Bangladesh in the Super-4 round on Friday. The defeat shattered Nepal’s aspirations of making it to the final.

Bangladesh easily chased down Nepal’s small target of 55 runs in the allotted 11 overs, accomplishing it in just 9.5 overs with the loss of just one wicket. Fahomida Choya spearheaded Bangladesh’s effort with an unbroken 26 runs, aided by Mosammat Eva (18 runs) and Sumaiya Akhter Suborna (10 runs). Kusum Godar was the only player to take a wicket for Nepal.

The game, held at the Bayuemas Oval in Malaysia, was shortened to 11 overs for each team because of rain. Nepal, batting first after losing the toss, could only accumulate 54 runs while losing eight wickets in their designated overs.

Nepal’s opener, Sabitri Dhami, led the scoring with 11 runs, while captain Puja Mahato and Elisha Yadav added nine and eight runs, respectively.

By achieving this victory, Bangladesh claimed a place in the final, completing the Super-4 stage with six points. With seven points, India progressed to the final.

Nepal previously grabbed attention in the group stage with a landmark victory over Pakistan, earning their spot in the Super-4. Nonetheless, their expedition concluded with a loss to Bangladesh, emphasizing the difficulties of competing at the highest level.
